When does the Baseball Season begin?
The Spring Season tentatively begins the third weekend in February, while the Fall Season is expected to start the second weekend in September.
Where are games and practices held?
All practices and games are held at the Santa Susana Baseball Fields:
4333 Township Avenue, Simi Valley, CA 93063
Supplemental practices may also take place at nearby locations, including:
Township Elementary School
Valley View Middle School
What day/times are practices?
Your team manager will determine the specific days and times for practices.
In general, teams will practice 1–2 times per week.
Please note that this is a common pattern—not a set rule—and may vary based on the team’s needs and field availability.
How do I register my child?
All registrations must be completed online at: www.santasu.leagueapps.com
Please create an account, set up a player profile, and follow the prompts to complete the registration and payment process.
Are there tryouts/evaluations? And does my player need to attend?
Player evaluations will be scheduled after registration closes.
Evaluations are mandatory for all players in the following divisions:
Shetland, Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, and Pony.
These evaluations help ensure that teams are drafted in a fair and balanced manner across all divisions.
Registration Fees
Registration fees are due at the time of registration.
If payment is not completed promptly, the registration will be voided in the system, and you will need to start the registration process again.
What form of payment does SSBB accept?
SSBB accepts cash, checks, and all major credit cards.
What division will my child be in?
The division a player plays in depends on their birth date. Below is the age reference for each division.

Do you allow special registration and/or placement requests?
Requests to play for specific managers, coaches, or with friends are considered but not guaranteed. While we strive to accommodate these requests when possible, teams are ultimately drafted by managers to maintain balance and fairness.
The only guaranteed exception is for siblings playing in the same division, who will be placed on the same team whenever feasible.
What if my son/daughter decides to no longer play, can I get a refund?
All refund requests must be submitted in writing via email to the league Secretary at secretary@santasu.com.
A processing fee of 20 dollars will apply for all refunds. Please note: Once teams are formed NO refunds will be issued.
Refunds will NOT be granted for the following reasons:
Dissatisfaction with assigned practice times or team placement.
Cancellation of games or practices due to inclement weather.
Player’s decision not to play after team placement or selection.
Player choosing to participate in a different program
Please understand that once a player is registered, the league incurs significant expenses, including PONY registration fees, uniforms, and equipment. Additionally, late withdrawals create challenges for coach recruitment and maintaining balanced teams.
How will teams be chosen?
All teams are drafted by division managers to ensure fairness and balanced competition.
When will I hear from my coach?
Team Managers will contact players and their families within one week after all team drafts are completed.
Are there any volunteer opportunities or requirements?
Santa Susana Baseball thrives because of our dedicated volunteers—and we’re always looking for more help!
All Managers, Coaches, Team Parents, and Board Members are unpaid volunteers who generously donate their time out of love for the game and its players.
If you're 15 years or older, you can also volunteer to work shifts at our Dugout Club during league games.

What safety measures or rules does the league follow?
Santa Susana Baseball follows the Official Rules of Major League Baseball, unless superseded by PONY Baseball Rules and Regulations, which may in turn be superseded by Santa Susana League rules.
How competitive is the league?
At Santa Susana Baseball, both our Fall and Spring seasons play an important role in player development, each with its own focus and purpose.
Fall Season is all about fun, fundamentals, and learning. It’s a more relaxed environment designed to help players build skills, gain confidence, and develop a love for the game. Coaches focus on teaching the basics, encouraging improvement, and allowing players to try new positions without the pressure of competition.
Spring Season is our main competitive season, where the emphasis shifts to applying what was learned in the Fall. Games are more structured and competitive, with a greater focus on team play, strategy, and advancing baseball IQ. The goal is to build on the foundation established in the Fall and prepare players for the next level of play.
We encourage all players to participate in both seasons to get the most out of their baseball experience!
Is there an All-Star or Travel team? How are players selected?
At Santa Susana Baseball, we offer two exciting opportunities for players looking to take their game to the next level: All Stars and our new in-house Travel Team, the Stingrays.
All Stars
All Star evaluations begin early in the Spring season. We send out interest forms and hold tryouts to identify players who are ready for a higher level of competition. Selected teams begin practicing in the Spring, so they’re fully prepared when the Summer All Star season begins. This gives players extra time to train together, build chemistry, and represent Santa Susana in local tournaments.
Stingrays Travel Team
We're proud to be developing our own in-house travel program—the Santa Susana Stingrays. This team is designed for players seeking year-round competition and growth. Stingrays players participate in USSSA Sunday Select tournaments during both the Fall and Spring seasons, while also playing on their regular rec teams. Many of these players may also be selected for All Stars, giving them even more opportunity to compete and improve. The Stingrays program is focused on preparing players for higher-level, competitive baseball while still being part of our local baseball community.
Both programs are excellent pathways for dedicated players to sharpen their skills, build teamwork, and enjoy the game at a more competitive level.
What equipment does my player need?
Each player will receive a team jersey and hat as part of their registration fee.
Players are responsible for providing their own equipment, including:
Glove
Bat
Helmet
Cleats
Protective cup (mandatory for male players)
It is strongly recommended that female players wear appropriate protective padding or a cup for safety.
Managers will notify the team regarding their pant, sock and belt color at the beginning of the season.
What happens if inclement weather conditions occur during a scheduled practice or game?
When inclement weather occurs, our Field Management Team monitors field conditions regularly—typically on the hour—to determine if it is safe to play.
If fields are safe for play, division managers will be notified via our communication apps and will pass that information along to their teams.
If fields are unsafe, the league will notify division managers and parents through LeagueApps, email, and, when necessary, text message alerts.
To ensure you receive timely updates, please make sure you are registered for email and text communications through the league.
